Replacement & Maintenance

Replace all impellers at least once every year, or sooner, depending on the engine duty. When installation is correct, an impeller may last for several years, but it’s always wise to maintain a preventative maintenance schedule rather than waiting for a failure.

Replacing impellers is easy. By removing the end cover screws, you can remove the impeller using either a Jabsco Impeller Removal Tool or channel-lock pliers to grip the hub. Do not use screwdrivers, as they can damage the pump face and pose a safety risk in confined spaces. Always carry spare impellers on board for emergencies. A greased impeller installs more easily into the pump bore and provides added protection during initial prime.

Installation Tips

• Grease new impellers before installation to ease fitting and protect during priming.
• After replacing the gasket and end cover, the pump is ready to use.
• Maintain a spare impeller kit on board for quick, preventative maintenance.
