Installation and maintenance tips:
- Replace all impellers at least once every year, or sooner, depending on the engine duty.
- When installation is correct, an impeller may last for several years, but stick to a preventative maintenance schedule.
- Replacing impellers is straightforward: remove the end cover screws, then use either a Jabsco Impeller Removal Tool or channel lock pliers to grip the impeller hub. Do not use screwdrivers, which can damage the pump face or create safety hazards.
- Always grease new impellers. It eases installation into the pump bore and provides added protection during the initial prime.
- After replacing the gasket and end cover, the pump is ready to use.
- Always carry spare impellers on board for quick emergency replacements.
- Remember: the impeller is a vital component of the engine cooling system and should be treated with care.
